SOCORRO COUNTY DETENTION CENTER
GGA joined the project team of SW Studio Architects in Albuquerque and Dewberry Engineers in Scottsdale for its first jail in New Mexico. Tight budget and staffing constraints drove the design basis for a pre-engineered building with modular steel cells. A single, centrally-located jail control allowed security functions and communications both to be accommodated. This took advantage of cross-training and reduced staffing needs.
Socorro’s 96-bed design blends with the textures and colors of the Southwest desert site while utilizing the cost effective building technologies demonstrated in recent GGA jail projects.
