Project Background and Priorities
The existing Socorro County Jail was located downtown and no longer met the County’s growing needs. A replacement facility was required, but it needed to operate with a tight budget and staffing constraints.
Solution
Construct a new detention center on a greenfield site. A pre-engineered building was utilized with modular steel cells to create a secure envelope within those walls. A single, centrally located central control allowed security functions and communications to be accommodated. Cross-training of staff reduced staffing needs. GGA served as the detention and design architect on the A-E team.
