Seward County Government Center
Seward, NE
PROJECT PRIORITIES The County turned to GGA to develop a viable option for a comprehensive justice center project, rather than a law enforcement center as previously proposed. It was critical to maintain the adjacency to the county courthouse to avoid an adverse impact on the thriving business environment around the historic courthouse square.
SOLUTION Working closely with county, judicial and sheriff’s department officials, GGA developed a solution that placed the new justice center next to the 1970’s jail, which was later demolished for parking. The historic courthouse continues to house the county’s administrative services. Seward County officials decided to fund the new Justice Center with Nebraska’s “nickel tax” which is available for essential infrastructure projects. Mr. Goldberg, through RM&P, worked closely with County officials to prepare an RFP for Bond financing, evaluate submitted proposals and helped to prepare for Closing.
