The Dickinson County Government office building was built in 1956 to house the County Administration, County Courts, Sheriff and, Jail all in a linear 3-story structure.  The building is essentially unchanged, with only a few minor renovations to the courts and jail booking areas.  With security concerns for the courts, outdated jail facilities and the need for additional space for growing county offices, the County Commission voted to renovate and expand the nearly 60-year-old Government Center.

Working with County officials and staff, Goldberg Group Architects (GGA) developed a Needs Assessment & Feasibility Study to address current and future requirements.  Plans include an addition to the existing County building with a new Sheriff’s department and 64-bed adult detention center.  The majority of the County offices and Court facilities will be renovated within the existing building envelope.  This addresses the need for a secure entrance for the entire facility and incorporate additional courtroom and County administrative functions.
